Children Wish List

Posted by admin 24 - August - 2010

1. Motorbike
This might sound a little “unusual” to us but after getting an explanation from Sr. Scholastica who manages Palasari, this is indeed a very serious problem that they have right now. Maria Goretti Orphanage, which is located far away from the nearest town, needs to pack all their children into a small minivan that they’re currently using as transport. There is no way to ferry all 57 kids at one go. They need to split into several groups when travelling. Most of them need to wake up very early otherwise they will need to walk more than 7km to the nearest bus stop. The children hope to have an additional motorbike which will allow one of the older kids to ferry some of the kids to school. THF is sincerely asking all friends to help solve this issue for the children.

…what the kids need the most now is a motorbike, for sending and fetching them from and to the main road, which is located 7 km away from the orphanage. When they need to attend sports class (Physical Exercise class), they need to reach their school in Negara by 6AM. From Palasari – where the main orphanage is, the kids need to leave home by 5AM to go to the main road. After that, they will need to wait for the public transport which could take up to 30 mins. Hence, the kids from our orphanage are always late for class. Unfortunately, our public transport in Palasari is still rare. It is because of Palasari is more like a village, where most of the local people prefer commuting using motorbikes.

Because of that, if possible, we are hoping that we could get that support, 1 unit of motorbike, as we really need it for transporting the kids. This will definitely help all the kids with morning classes as well as those who have late afternoon classes. We really hope this request and hope could be granted, a motorbike.

2. Food
Rice, cooking oil, sugar, canned food and any healthy, nutritional food.

3. Pre-loved and wearable clothes
Since the orphanages are running on a very tight budget, they hardly buy any new clothes. Most of their clothes are donated from kind hearted visitors. So, if you have any good-looking and wearable clothes, please donate them to the kids. Since Christmas is not too far away, how about some new clothes for them? Anyone? 🙂

4. Multivitamins
For kids and teenagers

5. Used Laptop Computers
Some of the children in Junior and High schools would really appreciate them as they can use them for their homework.

6. Used Guitars and Portable Electronic Organs

7. Books
Story and general knowledge books in English and Indonesian

8. Toys
Avoid giving too bulky items as we will have difficulty in shipping them over. Soft toys are good as we can compress them.

9. Stationery

10. Bedding stuff
If you have any extra bed sheets and pillow cases that are still usable, kindly donate them to the orphanages. This will help them to have a better sleep so that they can wake up nice and energised everyday.

11. Any other usable and useful stuff
Sr. Scholastica mentioned that they will use and appreciate any donation as they are running on a very minimum budget now.

If you are interested in donating any of items above kindly contact us before 25 Sept 2010.
Thank you very much!
